Kaia grew up in a family that loved big band and classical music. She spent many hours on her godmother's Hammond organ, and played piano, violin, saxophone, and bassoon in concert, marching, baroque, jazz, and theater ensembles in and out of school, while doing recording experiments on a four-track. While in college in Delaware, she joined the band Lexicon of Bad Words on electric violin, and released improvised electro-acoustic albums on Notype.com. Now, under the Empire State Building, Kaia satisfies her electronic side by tweaking knobs on the Moog with her friends in the video-game inspired band Mixel Pixel, while fulfilling her acoustic side through the new string sounds of the Luminescent Orchestrii.
